On March 25th, the Embassy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo held an annual meeting on consular protection and assistance. Ambassador Zhao Bin attended and delivered a speech. Representatives from local Chinese communities, chambers of commerce, consular assistance volunteers, and Chinese-funded institutions participated in the meeting.

Ambassador Zhao Bin conducted a thorough analysis of the current security risks and the situation of consular protection work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He emphasized that Chinese citizens and enterprises in the country should further enhance their awareness of risks, bottom-line thinking, and compliance, and effectively improve their security prevention capabilities. They must resolutely avoid complacency and侥幸psychology. Ambassador Zhao particularly requested that Chinese citizens in the country strictly abide by local laws and regulations, and truly achieve legal operation, compliant business conduct, and safe development.
Zhang Gang, the counselor, pointed out that over the past year, in the face of the complex and severe security situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the rising risks to Chinese citizens and institutions, the embassy has consistently adhered to the principle of "diplomacy for the people", comprehensively promoting consular protection and assistance work, properly handling various security incidents, and effectively safeguarding the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens and institutions in the Congo.
The meeting commended five outstanding consular assistance volunteers and presented appointment letters to the newly elected consular assistance volunteers for the 2026-2027 term. Representatives from the participating overseas Chinese associations and volunteers made speeches and exchanges, expressing their continued support and cooperation with the embassy, and actively playing the role of a bridge and liaison to jointly safeguard the safety and legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese and Chinese-funded enterprises in the country.

The participants at the meeting stated that the theme of this meeting was clear and the content was practical. It further consolidated consensus and clarified the direction. In the next step, they will earnestly implement the meeting's spirit, strengthen safety awareness, build a solid risk defense line, enhance unity and collaboration, and work together with the embassy to create a safe, standardized and orderly working and living environment in the country.
