As part of the economic diplomacy of the Congolese government, Louis Watum Kabamba, the Minister of Industry and Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Development, laid the foundation for "Cite de Chine" on May 10, 2025. The Chinese group "African Sunrise" is responsible for this project.

This modern comprehensive building covers an area of 150,000 square meters and has an initial investment of 200 million US dollars. However, it can also attract various investments of 300 million US dollars. Ultimately, the project is expected to create 30,000 job opportunities.
Chinatown will include shopping centers, logistics and financial infrastructure, hotel services and residential areas. The first phase of the project is scheduled to be put into use in December 2025 and fully completed in May 2027.

Witnessed by government members, diplomats in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, religious and economic figures, the minister praised the commitment of the head of state and reaffirmed the government's determination to take Congole-China cooperation as a strategic lever for development.
This project is part of the vision for economic transformation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, providing the capital with a comprehensive platform for trade, services and international exchanges.

"The City of China is the industrial future of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and is taking shape in the heart of Kinshasa," said a press release from the Ministry of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises Development.
